Just finished The Witcher.

Of COURSE I’d get interested in the story when there’s only 1/4 of the game left.

I kind of had the ending pegged at the point in time when the game got interesting haha. Goddammit, I play too many games and watch too many movies XD

Anyways – I liked the game enough that I’m dying to play the 2nd – especially since everyone said it’s amazing compared to the first.

A few minor gripes: I HATE grind zones. Seriously. I haven’t liked them since FFVII. I also am annoyed by grind quests. If I want to play those types of quests & in those types of zones, I’ll play WoW. Also – if playing on normal, and you make shit 1HK you (when it really shouldn’t be because you aren’t some lowbie schmuck) there’s a goddamn problem. Luckily, that was only one fight, but goddamn was I fucking PISSED after having to redo the fight literally 12 times (and I only died once during ONE actual boss battle – it was that goddamn sewer lair monster with the tentacles that fucked me up a million times).

Also – wish there was more character development. I liked the level of detail for Geralt, but the rest of the characters were kind of 2-dimensional, which was disappointing. I’ve heard this is rectified some in the 2nd as well.

Ended up REALLY getting the hang of the combat system, though I feel the 2 non-specialized weapon slots were useless and just got in the way, except for the ability to use a torch.

Overall – would recommend, but not to gaming newbies. There’s definitely a learning curve that could only really easily be overcome by people who are used to playing lots of RPGs and action games.
