I love this.

About a year ago, I encountered a situation with my (then) 6 year old daughter where she defined pink as a girl color, and blue as a boy color. I made sure to sit her down and explain that a color is just a color, and no one is defined by the colors they choose to wear. While she still likes wearing a lot of pink (believe me, *not* instilled by me. I donā€™t think I own a single pink piece of clothing LOL) she was quite happy to buy tshirts from the ā€œboysā€ department because they had badass stuff on them like Batman, Regular Show, and Adventure Time.

Cute and femme donā€™t just apply to women, yaā€™ll.

You can be a furious little genderqueerling and still like things that most people would say are ā€œfeminine.ā€ Genderneutral and genderqueer doesnā€™t need to be ā€œplainā€ or ā€œmasculineā€ by default, and enjoying or choosing to dress in a way that is seen as feminine or girly isnā€™t weak or submissive, and anyone who assumes that to be true is a misogynistic piece of shit.

Things that define your gender identity:

  • You
  • Your feelings, opinions, desires, thoughts, needs, etc

Things that do not define your gender identity:

  • The color of your clothes
  • The gender of other people who wear clothes like yours
  • Whether you sit or stand to pee
  • What combination of sexual organs you were born with
  • What combination of sexual organs you currently have
  • The gender of your romantic partner(s)
  • The gender of your sexual partner(s)
  • The kinds of sexual activity you enjoy
  • Other peopleā€™s assumptions
  • Other peopleā€™s opinions
  • I could literally sit here all night and type up this shit
  • But I am going to sleep now okĀ

this is the best.Ā

28 years old and I still laugh at Spongebob references. Yep. The ā€œlooks like a teenagerā€ thing isnā€™t just on the outside.

Those majestic bald eagles.

If people are really going to assume that guys with long hair are gay and girls with short hair are lesbians then I am going to assume that all bald men are actually eagles.

My life, in a nutshell.

It amazes me that I can accurately type at top speed without looking at my keyboard but still pour water down my shirt ā€˜cause I missed my mouth in general.

If I can manage to get it installed & working on my kindle (which shouldn’t be a problem) thinking of selling lifetime SnapChat packages to a limited amount of people. Probably like, at least 1 picture a day, most likely random days where it’s multiple pictures – of course naughty šŸ˜€ Still trying to work out the logistics, but would anyone possibly be interested in this? The pictures wouldn’t appear anywhere else, just for those who are on SnapChat with me.

Yup.

Why Your Daughter Wants to Be a Porn Star (Spoiler: IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT)

0

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jennifer-ketcham/why-your-daughter-wants-t_b_3813727.html

So… apparently parents are the biggest reason women go into porn. And it’s because they were shitty parents (OR, the biggest cop out of all – they were good parents, but not good enough).

This line “In fact, these are the reasons why your daughter wants to be a porn star.” makes me wanna scream.

I had zero of these issues. My parents and I had a typical hot/cold teenage experience, like *all* parents deal with.

But the parts that make me *really really* mad, are these:

1) She’s trying to say that *THESE* particular things are what make us decide to get into porn. It couldn’t possibly be anything else. Even with the quote

Quote:

“The truth about pornography is that the motivations that cause a young woman to enter or exit the business are as complex as is the brain that makes the decision. Whittling cause and effect down to a single reason — number eight! No! Four! Wait, nine sounds good — is tantamount to trying to explain why someone decided to become a neuroscientist. “

she’s still attaching it all to the idea that these reasons are the ONLY reasons why women choose pornography.

2) It takes an already exhausting and taxing job of being a parent and makes it worse. Thinking you are personally responsible for the decision of your child to get into any career you may not approve of is just ludicrous.

3) This quote:

Quote:

An 18-year-old girl’s career choice to go into porn isn’t entirely attributable to her parents just like an 18-year-old boy’s career choice to become a neuroscientist isn’t entirely attributable to his.

Wait… WHAT? Why are sons being brought into this at ALL? And why, of all fucking things, are you eluding the idea that only boys would choose to be neuroscientists??

This article is just rage inducing to me. While it has a handful of good points about parenting as a whole (Pay attention to your kid, don’t let the tv raise them, teach them right from wrong, be their parent not their friend, and have open lines of communication) the overall conjecture is just fucking ludicrous.

If a porn star leaves the industry, and was mistreated while she worked in the industry, I can understand being jaded. It’s like any career. But for fuck sake, don’t throw the industry under a bus just because your parents sucked, or you found God. It’s disgusting, and way more degrading than the porn that you greatly enjoyed while you were doing it. And certainly don’t use the barely casual “evidence” you’ve gotten from non-numerical “quite a few girls” who’ve left the business as your proof that all people in porn do it because they had a shitty childhood.

Also, why didn’t she touch on guys who work in porn *at all*. That annoys me just as much.
